I am finally getting into the Christmas spirit! I am not sure what is going on this year, maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s what happening in the world today, not sure, but I just haven’t been Miss Merry Christmas like I normally am! My sister, the Grinch, says that she has rubbed off on me! I am not sure that it a good thing. However, I have finally managed to have a pep in my step about Christmas again!
One of the main reasons for my sudden change of heart is having Carter home everyday because school is out for Christmas break! I am so excited to spend time with both of my boys together. I really miss having him here with us during the day! We had a celebratory moment when we got home and had some fun with the camera creating crazy faces (his favorite thing to do!)
We finally got the tree up about a couple of weeks ago, however, it was not without difficulty! Seems like everyone I know, including us had beautiful half-lit, pre-lit trees this year. Not fun! But thanks to some extra strands of lights we fixed the problem and moved on.
One thing that does brighten my day is receiving Christmas cards! I love opening the mailbox and seeing we have a card, just puts a smile on my face! The only problem is that I never know what to do with all of them. I don’t want to just stack them up somewhere, I want to display them. Most of them have pictures of people’s families and cute babies and I like seeing them all. One idea I saw that I liked, was from my cousin, Vanessa, she used ribbon and placed them on her kitchen cabinets. Very clever!
This year I decided I would use our staircase to display the Christmas cards we receive. The basement doesn’t get used for much except occasional card night by my hubby and laundry but I think it turned out nicely and gives me a reason to smile when I walk down the steps with a big basket full of clothes!
I love this time of year and being able to spend it with my family. I haven’t been writing as often because I haven’t had to, we have been so blessed that Dustin has been working from home the past couple of months. (FYI – the main reason for this blog was for Dustin, so that he could keep up with things at home, when he wasn’t) It is nice to live like normal families might at least for a while, there is a new year approaching so I am sure things will soon change. Until then we will enjoy every moment of it!
Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
