It is an ongoing joke in my family that I have only dated people who have a birthday close to mine and well that’s true, but it is merely by coincidence. My husband, Dustin, he is no exception; he celebrates his birthday on July 3, while mine is on the 6th. So of course, like everything we do, we celebrate every year together!
This year our families celebrated by taking us out to eat at one of mine and Dustin’s favorite restaurants. It is a blessing to me that I am fortunate enough to still have most of my grandparents in my life. I don’t take time with them for granted because I know Dustin would love to have his there with him.

The next day, we continued our celebrating all the way to the lake; one of our favorite places to be. We, along with my sister and my parents, rented a cottage at a one of our favorite state parks that is surrounded by Lake Cumberland. I forget how much I truly love the lake until we are on it!
Needless to say, we had a wonderful, relaxing weekend, which ended with a great fireworks show that the State Dock provides every year. That’s the great thing about having your birthday around the 4th of July; fireworks are guaranteed every year! Good thing too, since I am creeping my way to the dreaded 30, I need something to look forward to! Haha! I will leave you with some pictures of our trip.
