I knew that when I had children that it would be hard teaching them right from wrong in a world that anymore seems so vicious and cruel. But even still, I try my best to encourage that we must love one another and to lend a helping hand to those in need.
There are three main things we teach in the Wilson household:
1. To know and love God
2. To have good manners (please and thank you go a long way)
3. To show love, kindness and generosity to others.
Yesterday, Carter had a first hand lesson on generosity as we volunteered to work the backpack program at our local school. If you are unfamiliar with the backpack program, it is a program designed to provide nutritious and easy to prepare meals for children and their families.
Here is a list of food that they collect, feel free if you are in my area to contact me about where you can donate if you are interested.
Carter, who is a very caring child by nature, was more than willing to help and was fully aware of the importance of what we were doing.
Here is Carter standing outside of the school where we worked. This is actually going to be his new school come August when he starts Kindergarten (tear).
The summer backpack program will continue to collect, pack and deliver boxes through the summer and then will continue on into the school year. Carter and I will continue to help pack boxes until the school year starts and then my big boy leaves me for school! We encourage everyone today to find a way to help out in your community and spread love, kindness and generosity.
